The Van Houten House is interesting house because you can put a lot of emphasis on this building because it is the Van Houten house or you can blend it in with the other houses and let it look like it is a random unnamed house. It will still be designed roughly the same way the only real difference is if you want to make it look a bit more special than all the other houses. If you only want it to be a bit better you should just add something to the garden that other gardens don't have.
This is definately as expected the most common design. This a design with a lot of really good features for example it is easy, cheap and compact. One thing I do like about this design is that the garden has items i it when the others don't. I would probably just give the Van Houten garden premium items and the others normal items to give it a bit of uniqueness. The one bad thing with this design is that this is not a good design for showing off (what I feel) such a important building.

I really like this design because it puts a lot of emphasis on the Van Houten house without taking up a lot of space. (considering this design involves two bi buildings as well). The thing I really like about this design is that it focuses on the fact that Milhouse's parents are separated (which is a nice touch how in the picture Milhouse is in the middle of his two parents). I also really like the gate leading into each building.

The Van Houten House.
I personally like the Van Hoten House because you can pick wheather you would like to blend it in with the other houses or wheather you would like to make it a bit more special by moving it a bit away from the others or decorating it a bit more than the rest. I would say don't give it a car spot because it already comes with one.
